Employee Testimonials

Scott Hisee
Software Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman Park Air Systems

I began my career in Engineering as a Production Technical Services Apprentice at Park Air back in 2012, after making the last-minute decision not to go straight off to University following my final Sixth-Form exam. The Apprenticeship gave me exposure to many different disciplines both within and outside of the manufacturing team, but focused primarily on product test and component-level repair. This enabled me to develop a solid foundation of knowledge on the Company’s products specifically, as well as Electronics and RF Communication Systems in general.

Before starting the Apprenticeship I had very little experience in the industry and wasn’t completely sure in which direction I wanted to go afterwards. Over the next few years however, I began to realise that I wanted to be able to expand and apply my growing skillset in a design-oriented role, and eventually move towards Product Development. The Company supported me fully in this ambition, and helped me to produce a personal development plan setting out all of the steps I would need to achieve along the way. This included the completion of a part-time degree qualification in Engineering, which the Company fully funded and granted day-release in order for me to attend University lectures. Now, following graduation, I am currently a Software Test & Acceptance Engineer within the Product Development team.

Park Air continues to support my personal and professional development by providing both internal and external training, mentoring schemes and a wide variety of interesting projects to work on. One of the main things that has kept me at Park Air after the Apprenticeship is the support and encouragement shown by my colleagues. The Apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to meet many fantastic people across the various departments, many of whom go out of their way to teach the tricks of the trade.

John Stevens
Principal Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman Park Air

I started work at Park Air many years ago, within the manufacturing area. I knew early on that software development was my main aspiration. The company has not only given me that opportunity, but has supported me with continuous development and training in order to achieve this. Now as a Principal Software Engineer Park Air continues to be committed to supporting me. I have the pleasure of being part of a great team, who are always willing to help one another to achieve the best outcome.
